Vaccine development

The vaccines which will be developed in Russia will now be available worldwide in around 10 countries. Russia has made preliminary agreements so that it can sell its vaccine to Asia, South America and the Middle East. This agreement will be quite helpful for Russia because it will give the country political leverage internationally. The vaccines from Russia will be delivered to Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and India. As per the officials of the country, Russia will also try to connect a deal with more than 10 other countries. The country is receiving requests of more than 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine.

The vaccines will be delivered in the month of November. However, it will need local regulatory approval before it is distributed among the patients. The vaccine is called Sputnik V. The researchers of the company have completed a small scale test on around 76 patients. The data also shows that the vaccine was very safe to use. It is able to generate an immune response very quickly. However, the exports are suggesting to go for large-scale trials. Russia has also begun trials on 40,000 people in the month of August. By the end of the year, Russia will most probably undertake mass trials on its own population. China has also undertaken trials of the experimental vaccine on its own population.

Experts are suggesting to not rush the vaccine because it can lead to favorable outcomes. US authorities have completely scrapped the idea of using China or Russia vaccine. In the agreement with Russia, India will be receiving a hundred million doses of the vaccine. Brazil will also receive 50 million doses. However, Russia is facing tough competition from China. China has also said to distribute the vaccines among several countries. This can be more of a political agenda rather than saving a life. The Russian ambassador has although said that Russia is offering the vaccine without any political or economic linkage.
