Bill Gates blames US response on COVID-19 for economic situation
While the world has been fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, we know that some countries in the world have done a stellar job and some have been absolutely opposite. For example, we know that countries like New Zealand as well as some Asian countries have not reported a single case of COVID-19 since the last 3 months which is a great response from them. However, the cases are climbing in countries like the US, Brazil and others and not showing any signs of slowing down which is a bad response.
Now, one of the world’s biggest personalities and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates has come out to openly criticize his country’s response in dealing with the Coronavirus. Bill Gates, who has also been blamed due to conspiracy theories, for trying to track people via a vaccine has said that most of the US COVID-19 tests are “complete garbage”.
One report from earlier this month said that there are more than half of the US COVID-19 test centres that are not giving out reports for the test results in less than a fortnight. Now, it is very critical to give test results within 24 hours to know if a person has the virus so that he/she cannot spread it further. But we see that the US is totally lacking in this department.
Bill Gates says that from 2015 till now, “If we had built up the diagnostic, therapeutic, and vaccine platforms, and if we’d done the simulations to understand what the key steps were, we’d be dramatically better off”. He also says that in the first few months of this pandemic, “CDC had very low volume test that didn’t work” and also adds that “travel ban came too late”. He also adds that he is surprised to see because despite having the “smartest people on epidemiology in the world, by a lot, are at the CDC. I would have expected them to do better”
