Bill Gates becomes World’s Richest Person once again as Amazon’s Jeff Bezos slides down

Bill Gates has now become the world’s richest person as he has surpassed the Amazon co-founder and CEO Jeff Bezos to take his position back. This was after the news broke out that Amazon is not awarded the US government’s cloud computing contract which was to be given to AWS. Instead, Microsoft’s cloud computing service which is known as Microsoft Azure was awarded the contract which is worth $10 billion.

This is obviously a huge contract and it being awarded to Microsoft has sent happy tremors down the spine of Microsoft investors. For this reason, the shares of Microsoft went up by 4% after the news of this contract being given to the company came out. On the other hand, the investors who were hoping for Amazon’s AWS to get the contract were not happy which caused the shares of Amazon to slide by 2%.

All this meant that both the fortunes of Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos were changed, as reported by Bloomberg, and it meant that the fortunes of Bill Gates went up while the fortunes of Jeff Bezos went down. Talking about the sheer numbers, Jeff Bezos is worth $108.7 billion whereas Bill Gates is now worth $110 billion. This means that currently, Bill Gates becomes the richest person in the world after Jeff Bezos took this position from him earlier this year as Amazon started to rise.

Having said that, we know this is not the first time when Amazon’s shares have tumbled as it also happened during the time Amazon posted its first profit drop in nearly two years. After that, Bill Gates became the richest person for a short while as the Amazon shares corrected after a decline to give its CEO the top position. Now, we know that it is not a huge thing for both the personalities to look at their net worth which keeps on fluctuating but it is still great for a company to boast that their CEO or co-founder is the richest person in the entire world.
