Apple replaces Phil Schiller as head of marketing and promotes Greg Joswiak
We know that Apple has been making the best of moves in the market and we know that there is nothing going wrong right now for the company even after we saw a surprise departure of Jony Ive, their design head, from the company a few years back.
It is believed that Apple and Jony Ive had a problem due to the keyboards on Apple Macbooks being too shallow and having dust issues as well. Now, we are seeing another big name inside Apple being shifted from their original role.
It should be noted that Phil Schiller has been the head of Apple marketing for a long time now. But not anymore as Schiller has been replaced from his role and has been made an “Apple fellow”. This is definitely an honour because Apple doesn’t award this tag very lightly and very few have received it thus far.
However, it does mean that Schiller’s role in the company’s day-to-day operations has been reduced. Greg Joswiak is known to have replaced Phil Schiller as the head of Apple marketing. Now, we don’t know if there was a problem with Apple’s marketing so it looks like Schiller has been replaced just on merit but we don’t know any insider conversations.
Phil Schiller will still continue to have the role of heading App Store and Apple Events which is not a small task at all but it is smaller than his previous role for sure. Apple says that its marketing division is “responsible for Apple’s product management and product marketing, developer relations, market research, business management, as well as education, enterprise, and international marketing.”
It also looks like Phil Schiller is leaving Apple in the near future as he says that “It is time for some planned changes in my life,” and wants to “make some time in the years ahead for my family, friends, and a few personal projects I care deeply about.”
